Hyundai N and Genesis Coupe Coilovers: Elantra N, Veloster N and More
Hyundai coilovers are listed model by model, so start with your exact car. For the N cars we list kits for the Elantra N, Veloster N and Kona N, and the Genesis Coupe has kits from five brands. The listing title tells you which one fits.
Hyundai's N cars changed how a lot of people see the brand. The Genesis Coupe got there first, as a rear-drive coupe people actually modified. Both crowds ask us the same thing: which coilover kit fits, and which one suits how I drive? Here is what we list, with the traps in each title.
Hyundai Coilovers for the N Cars
Elantra N
We list the BC Racing Elantra N kit, titled "2021+ - Hyundai - Elantra N". That is the only Elantra N listing in our catalog right now.
One thing to raise before you order. Hyundai Canada's 2023 Elantra N spec card lists Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) as standard. Hyundai says it controls damping force to suit the driving situation. Our listing title does not say how the kit deals with ECS. Call us with your VIN before you order, and we will confirm what your car needs.
Do not mix up the Elantra N with the other Elantras. BC Racing lists the 2017 to 2020 Elantra Sport FWD as its own kit. The 2018 to 2020 Elantra GT, the GT Sport and the regular Elantra get separate kits too. None of those titles names the N.
Veloster N
The Veloster N has two listings, both for 2019 to 2022. One is the BC Racing Veloster N FWD kit. The other is the Fortune Auto Veloster N kit. The Fortune Auto title adds "Includes Front Endlinks, Separate Style Rear".
Here is the trap. BC Racing also lists a 2019 to 2022 Veloster FWD kit marked "Excl. N Model". Same years and same name, but the N has its own listing, so it needs its own kit. Read the full title.
Our Veloster N and Kona N titles do not say whether the car has factory electronic damping, or how each kit handles it. Call us with your VIN before you order, and we will confirm what your car needs.
Kona N
For the 2022 to 2023 Kona N, we list the KW Kona N (OS) kit and a Fortune Auto Kona N kit. The Fortune Auto title again notes front end links included and a separate style rear.
BC Racing lists a 2018 to 2023 Kona marked "Torsion Beam". That title does not name the Kona N, so do not treat it as an N kit.
Ioniq 5 N
We do not have an Ioniq 5 N coilover listing at the moment. Electric cars bring their own questions about weight and ride height. Our article on coilovers for EVs covers them. Call us if you want us to check with the brands.
Genesis Coupe Coilovers (BK, 2010 to 2016)
The Genesis Coupe has more listings than any N car. Each brand words its title a little differently, and a couple of them carry notes you need to read.
BC Racing. The BC Racing Genesis Coupe RWD kit, 2010 to 2016, marked "Swift Front Only".
KW. A Genesis Coupe (BK) kit, listed for 2009 to 2016.
Bilstein. A B14 PSS kit for the 2010 to 2016 BK, with the note "Requires 2011 Front Sway Bar Links".
TEIN. Street Basis Z, listed separately for the 2010 car and for 2011 to 2016. The 2011 to 2016 title says "Requires 2010 Model Front Sway Bar Link Rods".
Ksport. Separate kits for the 2.0L Turbo and the 3.8L, each split into two year ranges.
Two lessons sit in those titles. First, the sway bar link notes are real. Bilstein and TEIN each call for a specific year of front sway bar links, so allow time to source them before install day. Second, Ksport splits by engine. Know whether you have the 2.0T or the 3.8 before you order.
Other Hyundai Fitments We List
Not everyone has an N or a Genesis Coupe. BC Racing lists kits for the Veloster (2012 to 2017, and 2019 to 2022 non-N) and the Elantra across several generations. It also lists the Sonata, Accent, Tucson and Genesis sedan. The Genesis sedan is split into V8 and non-V8 kits. Ksport and KW cover several older models, including the Tiburon.
Plenty of these titles carry notes like "Swift Front Only", "Excl. GT" or "Excl. Touring/Wagon". Each one changes which car the kit fits. Read the whole title, then confirm on the product page.
Front-Drive N Cars vs the Rear-Drive Genesis Coupe
The Elantra N, Veloster N and Kona N drive the front wheels. The front tires steer, put the power down and do most of the braking. That puts a lot of work on the front of the car. A good setup keeps the front tires planted and lets the rear help the car turn.
That is where adjustable damping earns its place on a front-drive car. You can change how the rear responds without touching the front. Make one change at a time, start from the setting in your kit's manual and write down what you change. Click counting and direction differ by brand, so never copy numbers from a different kit.
The Genesis Coupe is a rear-drive car, and it gets used for everything from daily driving to drift and track days. Travel and clearance matter on a rear-drive car that gets thrown around. Lower it too far and it rides on its bump stops, which makes it snappy at the limit.
Whichever you drive, decide what the car does most weekends before you choose. A daily driver, an autocross car and a track car can share a listing and still need different settings.
Choosing a Kit for Your Hyundai
A front-drive hot hatch and a rear-drive coupe want different things, and the brands we carry each bring something different to them.
BC Racing's series ladder delivers feature parity with higher-priced brands at a value-performance price point. Custom rates and Swift Springs SPEC-R upgrades are available across most fitments. Notes like "Swift Front Only" show where Swift springs are available on a kit.
Fortune Auto hand-builds in Virginia, with custom valving for your application. KW brings German engineering with TÜV certification on most kits, and lists a Kona N kit.
On the Genesis Coupe, the Bilstein B14 PSS has non-adjustable damping and adjustable ride height. The TEIN Street Basis Z has fixed damping and adjustable ride height. Both suit a street car you set once and drive.
For a daily-driven Elantra N or Veloster N, ride comfort matters. Our guide on how coilovers affect ride quality explains why spring rate and damping matter more than the brand. If you are new to all this, start with what coilovers are and how each part works.
Setup Notes for Hyundai Builds
On full-length kits like BC Racing and Fortune Auto, you set ride height at the lower mount, and the spring perch sets preload. Tighten each locking collar once height is set. There is no single safe drop for every car. It depends on your wheels, tires and roads.
Every height change moves camber and toe, so align after the height is final. If your car has driver-assist cameras or radar, ask the alignment shop whether they need calibration after a height change.
Unsprung weight is the mass the springs do not carry: wheel, tire, hub and brakes. A coilover kit does not cut it by itself. Lighter wheels do. For a hot hatch that sees salt and potholes, durability matters as much as feel. Our guide to coilover durability covers care in real conditions. Good performance suspension on a Hyundai is a matter of the right listing, a sensible setup and a little upkeep.
Frequently Asked Questions
We list a BC Racing kit titled for the 2021+ Elantra N. Hyundai lists ECS electronic damping as standard on the 2023 Elantra N, and our title does not say how the kit handles it. Call us with your VIN to confirm before you order.
Not unless the title says N. BC Racing lists a 2019 to 2022 Veloster kit marked "Excl. N Model" and a separate Veloster N kit. Fortune Auto also lists a Veloster N kit.
We list KW and Fortune Auto kits for the 2022 to 2023 Kona N. BC Racing's Kona listing is marked "Torsion Beam" and does not name the N, so do not use it for an N.
Some do. Bilstein's B14 PSS listing requires 2011 front sway bar links. TEIN's 2011 to 2016 Street Basis Z listing requires 2010 model front sway bar link rods. Check the title of the kit you choose.
Not in our catalog right now. Call us and we will check with the brands. Our EV coilover article covers what changes on heavier electric cars.
Swift Springs SPEC-R springs are an upgrade option on most BC Racing fitments. Several Hyundai titles say "Swift Front Only", which tells you where Swift springs are available on that kit.
Yes. Any ride height change moves camber and toe. Set the height, let it settle, then align. Ask whether your driver-assist cameras or radar need checking too.
