The 11 Brands We Carry
BC Racing — Taiwanese engineering with the broadest chassis catalog in the aftermarket. BR, DS, ER, RM, HM, and ZR Series cover street through track applications across 1,000+ vehicle fitments. The default starting point for most coilover shoppers.
KW Suspension — German engineering with TÜV certification. Variant 1, Variant 2, Variant 3, Street Comfort, Clubsport, and Variant 4 cover comfort-focused street through dedicated motorsport. Strongest on European chassis.
Fortune Auto — Hand-built coilovers with customer-specified spring rates and valving. 500, 510, 520, MR, and Pro 2-Way Dreadnought Series cover daily through professional motorsport. Made-to-order with custom configurations.
TEIN USA — Japanese engineering with deep JDM heritage. Street Basis Z, Street Advance Z, Flex Z, Mono Sport, and Super Racing Series cover OE-replacement through circuit applications. Strongest on Japanese chassis.
Bilstein Performance — German OEM supplier with factory-grade engineering. B14 and B16 Series cover daily-driven through track-focused applications. Strongest on German chassis where Bilstein is the OEM damper supplier.
Ohlins Racing — Swedish racing pedigree. Road & Track and TTX Pro Series target enthusiast street through professional motorsport. The choice of multiple OEM track variants (Porsche GT3, McLaren, others).
Ksport USA — Taiwanese engineering with broad chassis coverage at an accessible price point. Kontrol Pro, Kontrol Plus, GT-PRO, and Slider Series cover daily through track applications.
Whiteline — Australian engineering with strong rally and motorsport heritage. Coilover applications across select Japanese, European, and American chassis.
Feal Suspension — US-built coilovers from California. 441 and 443 Series cover street-driven through drift and time-attack applications.
Swift Springs — Japanese motorsport-grade springs that pair with most major coilover platforms. The default upgrade spring across BC Racing, KW, Fortune Auto, and Ohlins kits.
Solo Werks — Entry-tier coilovers focused on European chassis applications. Single-adjustable damping calibrated for daily-driven and stance-focused builds.
Choosing the Right Coilover by Use Case
The single most important question is not which brand — it's which use case. Every brand makes a series tier for daily driving, a series tier for spirited / weekend track day driving, and a series tier for dedicated track or competition use. Buying the wrong tier for your actual use case is the most common mistake we see.
Daily-Driven Street Build
If the car is your daily driver and rides over real-world roads (potholes, frost heave, parking lot speed bumps), you want single-adjustable damping with a damping range tuned for compliance. Target series: BC Racing BR, KW Variant 1, Bilstein B14, Ksport Kontrol Pro, TEIN Street Basis Z, Fortune Auto 500, Solo Werks S1.
Spirited Street and Weekend Track Day
If the car sees occasional track days, autocross, canyon runs, or hard street driving and you want to dial damping for the event, you want dual-range damping or separate compression/rebound adjustment. Target series: BC Racing DS, KW Variant 2 or 3, Bilstein B16, Ksport Kontrol Plus, TEIN Flex Z or Mono Sport, Fortune Auto 510, Ohlins Road & Track.
Dedicated Track or Competition Build
If the car is built for time attack, club racing, drift competition, or other dedicated motorsport, you want 2-way or 3-way adjustable damping with motorsport-grade valving and remote reservoirs. Target series: BC Racing HM or ER, KW Clubsport or Variant 4, Ohlins TTX Pro, Fortune Auto Pro 2-Way Dreadnought, Ksport GT-PRO, Feal 443.
Adaptive Damping and OEM Electronic Suspension
If your car shipped with factory adaptive damping — MagneRide (Chevrolet, Cadillac, Ford), AIRMATIC (Mercedes-Benz), PASM (Porsche), DDS (Audi), EDC (BMW), DCC (Volkswagen), or similar — you need to confirm coilover compatibility before ordering. Some brands offer cancellation modules. Some offer adaptive-compatible kits. Some offer non-adaptive replacement kits only. Each fitment page notes the approach. Call us at 1-800-460-9106 before ordering if your car has any factory adaptive damping system.
Air Suspension Conversion
Several platforms — full-size Range Rover, Discovery, LR3 / LR4, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg, Tesla Model S and X air-suspension cars — ship with factory air suspension. KW and a few other brands offer air-to-coilover conversion engineering on supported chassis. The conversion replaces air struts with coilover shocks and addresses height-sensor delete engineering. Call us at 1-800-460-9106 before ordering an air-to-coilover conversion.
Springs, Sway Bars, and Supporting Modifications
Coilovers are one component of a tuned suspension system. The full setup typically includes: matching sway bars (Whiteline is the volume choice across most platforms), camber arms or camber plates for ride-height alignment, end links for sway-bar geometry, and a four-wheel alignment after installation. Swift Springs are the default upgrade spring across most major coilover kits where higher-rate or motorsport-grade springs are desired.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which brand is best?
None universally — the right brand depends on your chassis, use case, and price tier. For most shoppers: BC Racing for the broadest chassis catalog, KW for European chassis with TÜV certification, Fortune Auto for custom-built configurations, TEIN for Japanese chassis, Bilstein for German OEM-engineered factory-grade applications, and Ohlins for track-focused builds.
How long does coilover installation take?
Typical installation time is 4 to 8 hours for most platforms, plus a four-wheel alignment after install. Air-to-coilover conversions take longer.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. After installing any coilover kit, a four-wheel alignment is essential. Ride-height changes shift camber, caster, and toe geometry.
How long do coilovers last?
With reasonable use and proper rebuild service intervals, motorsport-grade coilovers (KW, Ohlins, Fortune Auto, Ohlins TTX Pro) last well over 100,000 miles. Entry-tier coilovers typically last 50,000 to 75,000 miles before rebuild or replacement.
Can I rebuild coilovers?
Yes, on most major brands. KW, Ohlins, Fortune Auto, Feal, and most BC Racing kits are rebuildable. Each brand has its own rebuild service program.
What's the warranty on coilovers?
Warranty varies by brand. BC Racing offers a 1-year warranty. KW offers a 2-year warranty on most series. Fortune Auto offers a lifetime warranty on shock bodies. Each product page notes the specific warranty.
